I'm sure that all of you already heard of BMI index. So I don't think that I need to explain it here, but I will show you how to calculate your BMI index.
BMI index = Weight (kg)/(height X height (metre))
This is the reading scale that is still being used in Malaysia
BMI | Weight Status |
Below 18.5 | Underweight |
18.5 – 24.9 | Normal |
25.0 – 29.9 | Overweight |
30.0 and Above | Obese |
Or if you are too lazy to calculate or you are suck in Math.

It should be noted that this method gives a rough guideline only. BMI tells you nothing about body composition or fat content. Remember that muscle is denser than fat, so some very lean muscular people (weight trainers etc.) would be classed as overweight, by this method. If in doubt - look in the mirror!
